Designed for a Lyric Theatre @ Illinois production unfortunately cancelled due to Covid-19. With a focus on few large set pieces to make the many location transitions of the show fluid and well-paced, I looked to the elegant stylings of Art Nouveau and Impressionist painters to make the stage feel lush and full, with an ever-present garden and stained glass false proscenium with projection space for super-titles inviting the audience to fall into the romanticism of this Sondheim classic.
